Crypto staking has moved from a niche alternative to mining to a core part of the industry as more proof-of-stake networks launch. Instead of simply holding tokens, users can stake to help secure networks and earn rewards without specialized hardware. Platforms have expanded beyond basic lockups to include features like liquid staking, flexible terms, cross-chain support, and DeFi integrations. Ripple said it has received preliminary approval for a Crypto Asset Service Provider (CASP) license in Luxembourg under the EU’s Markets in Crypto-Assets (MiCA) framework. The approval, issued via a “Green Light Letter,” is still subject to final conditions. If fully granted, it could allow Ripple to roll out regulated cryptoasset services across the European Economic Area (EEA).
