Hashdex to halt trading in DEFI Bitcoin ETF after Aug. 17 close ahead of cash liquidation
Hashdex’s Bitcoin ETF (DEFI) has logged net inflows on only six days since launch, while its assets and Bitcoin holdings have continued to shrink. On Aug. 11, the fund managed about $8.7 million and held 134.95 BTC, down 26% and 25% from Aug. 7, respectively. Shares outstanding fell 25% to 120,000 from 160,000, signaling faster redemptions ahead of the Aug. 17 forced cash liquidation. Over the prior week, US spot Bitcoin ETFs took in $865.3 million in net inflows, with BlackRock’s IBIT accounting for 80.1% of that total.
