Bank of England Removes Stablecoin Holding Caps, Sets £40bn Issuance Limit
The Bank of England has published its final policy framework for systemic stablecoins, setting a £40 billion cap on total issuance for each stablecoin. The central bank has scrapped proposed limits on individual holdings after pushback from the industry. It also slightly eased reserve backing requirements. The Bank of England said it aims to have the full rulebook in place before the end of 2026.
