Binance Details $6.3B Hack, Says $2.85B in Assets Frozen or Intercepted

Binance said attackers behind its October 29 breach used fake recruitment interviews and malicious software to compromise an engineer’s work computer before exploiting an internal AI tool to reach other employees and access wallet infrastructure, according to BSCN. The attackers stole credentials and deployed a malicious container, with five hot wallets transferring 233.46 million XRP in four minutes. BTC, SOL and OP wallets were also affected. Binance said approximately $2.85 billion in assets has been frozen or intercepted, and it has rebuilt affected systems, replaced devices and revoked credentials. The exchange plans an independent cybersecurity review and further investment in AI security.
