Kentucky files June 17 suits against Kalshi and Polymarket over unlicensed sports-event contracts
Kentucky Attorney General Russell Coleman filed lawsuits on June 17 against Kalshi, Polymarket, and VGW, alleging they operate illegal gambling products in the state without a required licence. The complaints seek civil penalties of up to $2,000 per Kentucky Consumer Protection Act violation and $10,000 per violation involving consumers older than 60, and cite claims that nearly 89% of Kalshi activity was sports-related with over $23 billion in 2025 volume. July 15 is the next key date, when Kentucky's Wagering Consumer Protection Act is set to restrict sportsbook relationships with prediction-market operators.
