TSMC adds $100 billion to U.S. chip expansion, lifting total commitment to $265 billion
AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
TSMC's additional $100B U.S. capex (raising total to $265B) strengthens the domestic supply chain for advanced nodes and packaging, directly supporting key customers including Apple. Confirmation from the White House/Commerce adds policy backing and may reduce tariff and geopolitical supply risks that have constrained semiconductor availability. Near term, the news is constructive for U.S.-linked chip capacity expectations and large customer procurement visibility.

TSMC said it will add $100 billion to its U.S. chipmaking investment, taking its total commitment to $265 billion. The plan includes funding for up to four additional plants and an advanced packaging facility, with the buildout targeting 12 U.S. facilities focused on 2 nanometer chips. Apple was identified as the largest customer for TSMC’s Arizona site, where some A16 chips have already been produced. Nvidia and Broadcom were also listed among key U.S. customers, while Apple has separately pledged more U.S. manufacturing investment and agreed to buy Intel chips in exchange for a semiconductor tariff exemption.
