Russia sets Sept. 1 start date for crypto rules including 300,000 ruble annual limit for nonprofessional investors

Russia's President Vladimir Putin signed a law introducing crypto rules from September 1. Nonprofessional investors may trade only after passing an assessment and within a 300,000 ruble annual limit per intermediary. Trading must occur on Central Bank licensed exchanges, with custody via digital depositaries and custodial wallets, and a licensing transition runs until July 1, 2027.
