Wheat Futures Rise 0.6% as Winter Wheat Planting Lags 5-Year Pace

Wheat futures closed higher Wednesday on the Chicago Board of Trade after the USDA's delayed Crop Progress report showed winter wheat planting running behind the normal pace. The report said 51% of the winter wheat crop had been planted, 7 percentage points behind the five-year average. Corn harvesting was 33% complete, also 6 points behind that average. Soybean and corn futures finished lower.
