Lummis backs CLARITY Act to shield U.S. coders from prosecution for publishing code
U.S. Senator Cynthia Lummis is urging colleagues to pass the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, saying it would protect software developers from prosecution for simply publishing code. In a statement shared on June 22, she highlighted the legal exposure faced by developers behind DeFi tools, wallets and other onchain services. Lummis argues that without clearer rules, routine engineering work can be treated as criminal activity after the fact.
