Western Union Rolls Out Stablecard, a Stablecoin-Powered Payment Card, Across 37 Markets
Western Union has launched Stablecard, a new payment card built on Rain's stablecoin infrastructure. The product lets users receive USDPT, Western Union's U.S. dollar-pegged stablecoin, and spend it immediately through an integrated Visa card at any Visa-accepting merchant worldwide, with a cash withdrawal option also available.
USDPT is minted on Solana by Anchorage Digital Bank. Stablecard is debuting in 37 markets, and Western Union said it aims to expand availability to more than 60 markets by year-end.
The company said stablecoins can lower working-capital needs tied to cross-border remittances, boost capital efficiency, and support the rollout of additional digital financial services. (Rain)
