Spain Refuses to Extend MiCA Crypto Licensing Deadline, CNMV Says

Spain's securities regulator, the CNMV, said it will not grant any exceptions or extensions to the EU's MiCA licensing deadline, which expires at the end of June. CNMV chair Carlos San Basilio made the comments Friday at an event in Santander. Several major crypto platforms still lack authorisation, including Binance, which has not obtained a licence in Greece. San Basilio said supervisors are in close contact with firms operating without licences to ensure an orderly winddown of activities. He also warned that investors who continue to use unauthorised platforms after the deadline will lose all protections provided under MiCA.
