SEC moves to modernize transfer agent rules, citing electronic communications and blockchain

THE BLOCK: The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Tuesday updated its rules governing transfer agents, aiming to bring regulations in line with technological shifts over recent years. SEC Chair Paul Atkins said the proposal would "streamline and modernize" the agency's framework to better reflect how transfer agents operate today, including the use of electronic communications and blockchain technology in securities offerings and share transfers.
