Iran Says It Will Again Shut the Strait of Hormuz, Citing Lebanon Ceasefire Breaches

Iran's Central Military Command said on state television that it plans to close the Strait of Hormuz again, blaming what it described as Israeli violations of the ceasefire in Lebanon and the United States' failure to implement the first provision of a preliminary agreement intended to end the war. The command framed the move as an initial response to what it called broken commitments by its adversaries. The announcement follows a preliminary ceasefire agreement signed earlier by U.S. President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian. Follow-up talks scheduled for Friday in Switzerland were postponed indefinitely after a fresh wave of Israeli airstrikes in southern Lebanon reportedly killed at least 16 people.
