CFTC Orders Kalshi to Keep Trading After NY AG Seeks Injunction and Over $36B in Damages

The US Commodity Futures Trading Commission used emergency powers to direct KalshiEX to continue trading and comply with designated contract market rules under the Commodity Exchange Act after Kalshi flagged a market emergency. The move follows a July 31 lawsuit by New York Attorney General Letitia James seeking to stop Kalshi's event contracts nationwide and claiming over $36 billion in damages.
