BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Premium ETF (BITA) could debut as soon as next week
June 12 — Bloomberg ETF analyst Eric Balchunas said BlackRock has filed a Form 8-A for its iShares Bitcoin Premium ETF (ticker: BITA), a move that typically points to an official launch within about a week.
Market attention on BITA has been high as it follows BlackRock's spot Bitcoin ETF, IBIT. The fund has yet to publish its management fee, which is expected to be 38 basis points.
Unlike a spot-only product, BITA is designed around a covered-call strategy. It seeks to generate option premium by selling covered call options against the Bitcoin it holds, then distributing that income to investors—aiming to turn Bitcoin's volatility into a more regular return stream.
