Base postpones B20 token standard debut after second chain halt in 24 hours

Base has put its B20 rollout on hold following a second block-production interruption in less than a day. Coinbase's Layer 2 network said it is delaying the mainnet launch of the B20 Activation Registry, a key step that would enable the new token standard for stablecoins and real-world assets. The latest halt began Friday at 11:33 a.m. ET and was resolved in about 14 minutes, with the team citing symptoms similar to Thursday's two-hour outage. Base said user funds remained secure throughout. The network added that testnets remain on schedule and that an updated mainnet launch date will be announced.
