Morgan Stanley has submitted an S1 registration statement to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission for its proposed Morgan Stanley Bitcoin Trust, stating it will appoint Coinbase Custody and Bank of New York Mellon (BNY Mellon) as bitcoin custodians, according to CoinDesk. The filing specifies that the trust intends to hold most of its bitcoin in offline cold storage, with private keys maintained offline to help mitigate hacking risks. BNY Mellon is additionally designated as fund administrator, transfer agent, and cash custodian, responsible for accounting, maintaining shareholder records, and managing cash flows tied to ETF transactions.
