US Stocks Lose $3 Trillion in a Day as Nasdaq Falls 5.52% on AI and Election Worries
US stocks erased about $3 trillion in market value Thursday. The Nasdaq fell 5.52%, the S&P 500 lost 4.36% and the Dow dropped 3.44%, its worst day in nearly 19 months. The VIX jumped 11.57 points to near 28.2 as chip shares slid over 12%. Capital moved into short term Treasuries, gold near $4,100 an ounce and the yen.
