SEC names XRP as a digital commodity example as Paul Atkins pushes crypto products onshore
The U.S. regulatory environment has shifted in a way supporters say is favorable to XRP, with the SEC–Ripple enforcement dispute resolved and the SEC now citing XRP as an example of a digital commodity. SEC Chairman Paul Atkins has advocated moving crypto products, custody and tokenized securities onshore to the United States. Ripple National Trust Bank has received preliminary conditional approval from the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC). Institutional holdings cited include Bitwise with 194.9M XRP and Franklin Templeton with 159.7M XRP, while Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent has said regulated stablecoins could grow from roughly $300B to a market ten times larger by the end of the decade.

The Sandbox says SAND bridge exploit drained 14,742,341.84 tokens from Ethereum vault
The Sandbox has released findings on a recent SAND bridge security incident. It said an attacker exploited a configuration function in the SAND token contract on Base and BNB Chain, where the contract also served as the LayerZero bridge integration, and set themselves as the sole verifier for incoming bridge messages. The attacker then stole about 14.74 million SAND from the Ethereum vault backing the bridge, roughly 0.5% of the fixed 3 billion maximum supply, while the team said it quickly contained the exploit and completed on-chain forensics.

Sen. Bernie Moreno says CLARITY Act talks end after 11 months, bill heads to congressional vote
U.S. Sen. Bernie Moreno said negotiations on the CLARITY Act have formally concluded after 11 months, leaving the bill to face a vote in Congress. If passed, the legislation would establish a clearer regulatory framework for digital assets and could open the door to trillions of dollars in institutional capital. Market participants broadly view the move as potentially positive for crypto assets such as XRP.

Kiichain exploit on Aug. 22 drains about 148 million KII after 18 attacks; network halted
On Aug. 22, Kiichain was exploited through vulnerabilities in the Cosmos EVM module, with losses of about 148 million KII. The team halted the chain after detecting the attack to prevent further losses, and about 80.70 million KII remains frozen in the attacker’s on-chain address and is recoverable after a restart. Most of the remaining funds were bridged to BNB Chain and sold, while another 3 million KII was sent to KuCoin and a freeze request has been filed. The issue stems from three flaws in a shared Cosmos EVM module that also affected Mantra and TAC the same week, and Kiichain is preparing fixes, an upgrade and restart, plus asset migration and bridge limits.

USDD expands its Vault to Ethereum, enabling ETH and WBTC collateral with a 130% minimum collateralization ratio
USDD said it has expanded its Vault to the Ethereum network, allowing users to mint the USDD stablecoin by depositing ETH or WBTC as collateral. The overcollateralized, user-controlled CDP model sets a minimum collateralization ratio of 130% and a stability fee as low as 4%. The move is aimed at improving capital efficiency by letting users unlock liquidity while retaining upside exposure to the underlying assets. It also positions USDD as evolving from a single stablecoin into a multi-chain yield infrastructure with on-chain yield opportunities.
