Thailand SEC opens consultation on draft rules for local spot Bitcoin and Ether ETFs through Sept. 20
AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
Thailand's SEC moved locally listed spot Bitcoin and Ether ETFs from principles to draft regulations and opened a consultation through Sept. 20. The framework initially limits products to passive BTC or ETH ETFs listed on the SET with an 80%+ average net exposure requirement and tighter custody standards, prioritizing onshore custodians while allowing qualified foreign providers in limited cases. The proposal signals incremental institutional access and regulatory normalization.

Thailand’s Securities and Exchange Commission has moved its plan for locally listed spot Bitcoin and Ether ETFs from proposed principles to draft regulations and opened a public consultation through Sept. 20. The draft would initially allow only passive ETFs tracking Bitcoin or Ether, with each fund required to keep average net exposure of at least 80% of net asset value over each accounting year. The package also revises proposed requirements for foreign digital asset custodians used by funds investing in digital assets, including investor-protection standards the regulator deems adequate, according to the SEC.
