South32 shares rise 2.6% to a 10-year high of A$5.09

AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
South32's shares hit a 10-year high after FY26 production beat guidance across key operations, reinforcing confidence in near-term cash generation. The proposed sale of its aluminium value-chain assets (excluding Mozal) to Alcoa for up to US$5.6bn, alongside the transfer of ~US$1.2bn in rehabilitation provisions, signals a portfolio reset toward copper and other base/precious metals. Near-term focus is deal execution and delivery on growth projects.

South32 shares climbed 2.6% on Monday to A$5.09, marking a 10-year high. The stock is up about 30% over the past month, 43% year to date in 2026 and 72% over the past 12 months. In July, the miner reported FY26 production results that beat several guidance targets, with stronger output across key operations. South32 has also proposed selling its aluminium value chain business (excluding Mozal Aluminium) to Alcoa for up to US$5.6 billion and transferring around US$1.2 billion of rehabilitation provisions, a move it expects would reshape the group into a more focused base and precious metals producer.
