Bank Leumi to add Bitcoin, Ether and Solana trading for 2.5 million retail customers in early 2027
AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
Bank Leumi plans to enable in-app buying, holding, and selling of BTC, ETH, and SOL for ~2.5 million retail customers by early 2027, using Galaxy Digital and GK8 infrastructure. If approved by the Bank of Israel, this would meaningfully lower fiat-to-crypto friction via a regulated bank channel and may accelerate regional bank adoption. Regulatory signoff remains the key gating factor after a prior 2022 attempt failed.

Bank Leumi plans to let roughly 2.5 million retail customers buy, hold and sell Bitcoin, Ether and Solana inside its mobile banking app beginning in early 2027. The move would make it the first bank in Israel to integrate digital-asset trading directly into a banking interface. The lender previously explored a similar rollout in 2022 with Paxos, but the project was shelved after the Bank of Israel declined to approve it. This time, the infrastructure will be provided by Galaxy Digital and its custody unit formerly known as GK8.
