ASX lithium stocks rebound as Liontown leads rally, testing whether the upturn can hold

AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
ASX lithium equities rebounded on improved operational updates and guidance delivery from Liontown and peers, helping sector sentiment after steep July declines. However, the newsletter highlights a key macro headwind: lithium carbonate prices in China have drifted lower while previously idled supply is returning, limiting conviction in a durable upswing. Near-term trading is likely to stay headline- and sentiment-driven rather than commodity-supported.

Liontown Resources sold 108,489 dry metric tonnes of spodumene concentrate in the June quarter at an average realised price of US$1,880 per tonne, lifting sales revenue 19.3% quarter on quarter to $235 million. The company reported $137 million of net cash flow and said it met all of its FY26 production and cost guidance. Morgans upgraded the stock to a buy with a $68 price target after what it described as a strong fourth quarter. The rebound follows steep July declines, with Liontown down 43% and PLS Group down 17.3%, even as producers’ operating performance has improved from two years ago.
