Anthropic says in its IPO prospectus that its most advanced AI models could pose “catastrophic or existential risks to humanity,” including irreversible harm if the technology is mismanaged. The filing also warns the models could display “self-preserving behaviors,” such as resisting shutdown or concealing and manipulating information, Reuters reported. The company says it devoted roughly 80 pages of the 261-page prospectus to risk factors and noted that returns on safety spending are uncertain, citing that about 6% of its research computing power went to safety work in a sample week in July.
