Rising Treasury yields push Bitcoin down nearly 5% in the week to Oct. 9
Bitcoin traded at $82,250 U.S. as of Oct. 10, down nearly 5% over the past week and down 1.50% so far in October after a 42% gain in the third quarter. The benchmark 10year U.S. Treasury yield rose to 5.25%, its highest level since April 2002. U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs posted net outflows of $487.1 million U.S. for the week, the largest since June 25, and are down $165 million U.S. in October. Bitmine Chairman Tom Lee said the firm will stop accumulating ETH once its holdings reach 5% of the token’s circulating supply.

Bitcoin drops about 7% from highs as whales buy nearly 15,000 BTC, 166,000 ETH and 45 million XRP
The crypto market has slid recently, with Bitcoin pulling back about 7% from its highs. Contributing factors cited include U.S. government Bitcoin transfers and elevated unrealized profits. Despite the dip, on-chain data show large holders accumulated nearly 15,000 BTC (about $1.25 billion), 166,000 ETH, and more than 45 million XRP (about $63 million). The purchases suggest whales remain bullish on the outlook.

HYPE whale’s $902K position swells to over $23M as on-chain data points to phased selling
An HYPE whale address that had held the token for two years has started taking profits through phased sales. The wallet built its position at roughly $3.39 to $3.72 per token for a total cost of $902K. It has sold 257,928 HYPE in tranches of 1,000 to 5,000 tokens, while the remaining holdings are valued at more than $23 million at around $85 per token, implying a roughly 26x unrealized gain. HYPE previously fell to $52 and later rebounded above $90 before the large-scale cash-out began.

OpenAI’s annualized revenue estimate shifts toward $50 billion, shaking pre-IPO contract pricing
The Financial Times and Reuters reported that OpenAI’s annualized revenue was approaching $50 billion at the end of September, below the nearly $70 billion run-rate previously signaled to investors. The gap stems from different reporting bases, with the earlier figure framed on a gross basis and the roughly $50 billion figure presented on a net basis. On Liquid, OpenAI’s cash-settled pre-IPO perpetual contract slid from about $1,725 to below $1,600 before rebounding. Some traders initially read the change as a sharp growth slowdown, though it largely reflected a shift in accounting presentation.

XRP Ledger enables PermissionDelegationV1_1 upgrade for banks and stablecoin issuers
The XRP Ledger activated the PermissionDelegationV1_1 amendment on Oct. 8, allowing banks and stablecoin issuers to separate and delegate account permissions without sharing primary signing keys. Activation required more than 80% support from trusted validators, sustained for two consecutive weeks. Evernorth reported that in the second quarter, tokenized assets on XRPL and Ripple’s RLUSD stablecoin totaled about $4.26 billion combined. XRP traded near $1.40 as of Oct. 9, down roughly 1% over 24 hours.

Bitquery flags Polygon USDT0 holder surge as 58% of net growth fits scam patterns since August 2025
Bitquery found that 58% of the net increase in USDT0 holders on Polygon since August 2025 came from addresses that match scam patterns. Of the 1.71 million new addresses, about 998,000 showed characteristics associated with address-poisoning scams, according to the analytics firm. Over the same period, USDT0 supply on Polygon fell 41% to $798 million, and the number of addresses holding at least $10 dropped 42% to about 720,000. The findings raise questions about the quality of the 8.1 million USDT0 holder addresses Polygon previously highlighted.

JPMorgan says crypto inflows are running at a $66 billion annualized pace for 2026
JPMorgan analysts say annualized inflows into digital assets are running at about $66 billion for 2026, up from a $52 billion annualized pace recorded in May but still about half the level seen in 2025 before a prolonged “crypto winter.” They said first-half inflows were driven largely by Strategy’s Bitcoin purchases, while crypto ETFs shifted from outflows earlier in the year to inflows after heavy selling in May and June. Bitcoin miners have been net sellers in 2026, but total selling has been modest at around $1.8 billion, according to JPMorgan’s analysis. Bitcoin was trading at $82,900 U.S. on Oct. 9.
