Alphabet slides 6% as AI infrastructure spending fears hit US tech megacaps

US tech megacaps fell on Monday as investors worried that massive capital spending on AI infrastructure may not deliver adequate returns. Alphabet slid 6%, its biggest one-day drop of the year, wiping $256 billion off its market value, while Amazon fell 4.8% and Meta and Microsoft each dropped about 3%. In contrast, semiconductor and data-storage names such as Micron and SanDisk rose.
