SpaceX stock options debut with over 600,000 contracts traded as shares jump 17% in third session
SpaceX stock options began trading in the U.S. and quickly became the third-most active options name, with more than 600,000 contracts changing hands. Bullish positioning clustered in near-dated $220 calls, while implied volatility in three-month options was marked around 110%–115%, according to Susquehanna International Group’s Chris Murphy. Market makers hedging call sales by buying shares can amplify moves, helping push the stock as high as $225.64 early in the session.
