Researcher says 60% of EU crypto users may be affected ahead of MiCA’s 1 July deadline

EU crypto users could face service disruption ahead of MiCA’s 1 July transitional-period deadline. Researcher Alex Obchakevich said about 60% of EU users relying on unlicensed crypto platforms could be locked out. Data aggregated from ESMA show only 194 crypto firms (6.5%) were licensed as of May 2026, leaving more than 2,800 firms without a license.
