Nigeria’s active mobile subscriptions rose to 189.68 million in May 2026, up 1.67 million from April, with MTN and Airtel together controlling nearly 86% of the market, according to Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) data. Broadband penetration reached 56.11% over the same period. Monthly data usage set a record at 1.50 million terabytes. The NCC also approved licenses for 46 new telecom companies.
