European stocks slip 0.22% as Fed hike odds rise to 49.5% for September
European stocks edged down on Thursday, with the STOXX 600 off 0.22%, as investors priced in a higher chance of a U.S. Federal Reserve rate hike, putting September odds at 49.5%. Oil’s pullback to around $78 a barrel helped ease inflation worries, and pockets of strength emerged in airlines, chipmakers and tech. Still, tighter rate expectations weighed on broader risk appetite and capped near-term upside even as Nasdaq futures at one point rose more than 1.5%.
