Dutch transport minister says RDW approved Tesla FSD on independent tests, not company statistics
Dutch transport minister Vincent Karremans said the RDW did not base its approval of Tesla’s “Full Self Driving (supervised)” software on statistics submitted by Tesla, but on independently verified testing. The April 10 decision was the first such approval in Europe and has fed into EU-level coordination and preliminary follow-on approvals in countries including Belgium and Denmark. Tesla Europe said cars using the software drove 23.6 million kilometers (15 million miles) in the Netherlands from April 10 to June 5 with no highway collisions and three crashes on smaller roads, according to a June 9 post on X.
