U.S. cotton futures rose 35 to 56 points on Monday, led by the Jul 26 contract settling at 73.43 cents/lb. USDA’s Crop Progress report showed planting at 86%, 2% behind the average pace, with crop conditions at 51% good/excellent, down 2 percentage points on the week. The Cotlook A Index increased 110 points on Thursday to 84.75 cents/lb. Crude oil and the U.S. dollar index were lower, though they did not drive cotton’s move.
