BlackRock’s BITA bitcoin income ETF begins trading on Nasdaq on June 16, 2026
BlackRock’s iShares Bitcoin Premium Income ETF (BITA) started trading on Nasdaq on June 16, 2026, billed as the first yield-generating Bitcoin ETF. The actively managed fund uses a covered-call approach designed to turn Bitcoin’s implied volatility into monthly cash distributions rather than track spot performance. The SEC declared the fund effective on the evening of June 15, 2026, after BlackRock filed its fourth S-1/A amendment in early June outlining call-option writing primarily on shares of its iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT). BITA targets 15–25% annual yield by overwriting 25–35% of net asset value each month while aiming to keep at least 70% participation in bitcoin’s price gains.
