AFIC FY26 profit rises 3% to $293.5 million as portfolio return lags ASX 200
Australian Foundation Investment Company (AFIC, ASX: AFI) reported FY26 net profit up 3% to A$293.5 million, but its portfolio delivered a total return of just 0.9% including franking credits. That compared with a 7.2% gain for the S&P/ASX 200 Accumulation Index, leaving AFIC well behind the broader market. Net tangible assets per share fell to A$7.93 from A$8.33, while the shares slid 8% over the year. AFIC kept its full-year dividend at 31.5 cents per share and declared a 2.5 cents per share special dividend.
