Oracle shares drop 4.5% after Larry Ellison scraps plan to sell up to $7.5 billion in stock

AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
Oracle shares fell as risk appetite for AI-related equities weakened amid rising calls from Anthropic and OpenAI for tighter AI regulation and a possible slowdown in model development. Although Larry Ellison abandoning a planned $7.5B share sale would normally be supportive, macro headwinds dominated: firmer inflation data and higher oil prices increased perceived odds of a Fed hike, raising the cost of Oracle's AI data-center buildout.

Oracle co-founder Larry Ellison has abandoned plans to sell up to $7.5 billion worth of the company’s shares, a reduction plan that had been in the works since June. Ellison controls about 40% of Oracle, making his trading decisions closely watched. The stock also faced pressure amid debate over AI regulation and the prospect of another Federal Reserve rate hike. Oracle shares were down 4.5% in early trading.
