Tyson, eight pork producers agree to pay $117M to settle price-fixing class action

AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
Eight major pork producers, led by Tyson, agreed to a $117M class-action settlement over alleged antitrust coordination via Agri Stats. While defendants deny wrongdoing, the payout highlights ongoing regulatory and litigation risks in the US food supply chain. The financial impact appears limited relative to industry scale, but the headline may marginally affect risk perception around pricing practices and compliance across consumer staples.

Tyson Foods and eight major pork processors agreed to pay $117 million to settle a class action. The lawsuit alleged the companies exchanged competitively sensitive information through Agri Stats to coordinate pork prices and supply, in violation of antitrust law. Tyson will pay the largest share, $85 million. The settlement covers consumers who indirectly bought pork products between 2014 and 2018, and all defendants deny wrongdoing.
