Indian rupee set to slip as oil gains and US yields stay high, fading October Fed hike bets offer limited support

AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
Rising Brent crude and a surge in US Treasury yields are renewing depreciation pressure on the Indian rupee, with softer US inflation and reduced odds of an October Fed hike failing to provide support. RBI intervention is reportedly limiting downside near the 96/USD level, but elevated energy prices and high US rates keep external funding conditions tight and worsen India's terms of trade, sustaining near-term FX stress.

The Indian rupee faced renewed depreciation pressure on Thursday as rising oil prices and elevated U.S. Treasury yields weighed on the currency. Brent crude’s December contract rose nearly 2% on Wednesday, taking its September gain to around 14%, while the 10-year U.S. yield climbed near its highest level since 2007. Softer-than-expected August U.S. inflation data and cooling expectations for an October Federal Reserve rate hike did little to lift sentiment.
