Oracle cloud infrastructure layoffs cut 546 roles in the Americas unit

AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
Leaked details show Oracle cut 546 roles (~7.6%) in its Americas cloud infrastructure unit despite reported 121% YoY quarterly revenue growth, underscoring aggressive cost control amid a debt-funded AI data center buildout. The concentration in engineering and management roles suggests operational streamlining and potential execution risk during rapid capacity expansion, which can pressure near-term sentiment around Oracle's cloud investment cycle and workforce stability.

Internal documents obtained by Business Insider show Oracle cut 546 jobs in its Americas cloud infrastructure organization, about 7.6% of the 7,185 employees listed, with software developers accounting for roughly 17% of the roles eliminated. Oracle previously disclosed that its headcount fell by 21,000 employees, or 13%, in the 2026 fiscal year ended May 31, and said it had 141,000 employees before the latest round of layoffs. The cuts drew attention because Oracle reported quarterly revenue in its cloud infrastructure organization surged 121% year over year.
