Kenya High Court clears KCB to auction Cytonn-linked Cysuites hotel over Sh425.6 million loan default

AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
Kenya's High Court cleared KCB Group to auction Cytonn-linked Cysuites Apartment Hotel to recover a defaulted ~$3.3m loan, reinforcing secured-creditor priority over shareholder claims and limiting the reach of preservation orders tied to Cytonn's CHYS liquidation. The ruling may marginally tighten risk appetite toward Kenyan real-estate SPVs and local credit exposures but has limited direct read-through to listed global assets.

Kenya’s High Court has ruled that KCB Group can auction the Cysuites apartment hotel owned through Wasini Resorts Ltd to recover a Sh425.6 million loan. The property had been pledged as collateral during an April 2018 share purchase in which Cytonn Investment Partners Twenty LLP acquired equity in Wasini Resorts. The government’s official receiver has also frozen Cysuites and other assets while pursuing recovery of more than Sh14 billion owed to about 4,000 investors.
