Triveni says domestic sugar prices will stay firm in the short term as stocks tighten

AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
Triveni expects Indian domestic sugar prices to stay firm near term as carryover stocks tighten, driven by 0.7 mt exports and 3 mt diversion to ethanol, with inventories projected to fall to ~4.1 mt by Sep 2026 (a decade low). Potential El Niño-related monsoon deficits add downside risk to 2026/27 production, reinforcing a near-term supply squeeze supportive for sugar-linked pricing.

Triveni Engineering said its Q1 FY27 sugar sales rose 7.4% year on year to 27.7 lakh tonnes, with average realisation increasing to ₹41,525/tonne. The company said exports of 0.7 million tonnes and diversion of 3 million tonnes of sugar toward ethanol in the October 2025–September 2026 sugar season are expected to push India’s sugar stocks down to 4.1 million tonnes by end-September 2026, a 10-year low. The tighter supply-demand balance is supporting firmer domestic sugar prices in the near term, it said.
