Brent settles above $94 after new US strikes on Iran; European gas hits highest since January 2023
AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
Escalating US-Iran military strikes and reported attacks near the Strait of Hormuz have sharply lifted geopolitical risk premia across energy markets. Brent settled above $94 and WTI above $90 on disruption fears to a critical shipping chokepoint, while European TTF gas jumped to its highest level since Jan 2023. Tighter sanctions rhetoric adds to supply uncertainty, supporting near-term volatility and risk-off positioning across energy-linked assets.

Escalating tensions between the United States and Iran pushed oil and European gas prices sharply higher. Brent futures rose $4.16 to $94.65 a barrel and WTI gained $4.46 to $90.22. Europe’s benchmark TTF gas futures climbed 6.20% to €74.14 per megawatthour, the highest level since January 2023. US Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said Iran is responding militarily because new sanctions have begun to hurt its economy.
