ChainThink said market data show ZEC surged on Aug. 25 to about $888, marking its highest price in roughly eight years and the strongest level since 2018. The token is holding near $844 after posting a weekly gain of more than 70%.
The Zcash community has launched an 18-day token-holder vote, initiated on Aug. 24, to decide the scope of the NU7 network upgrade. The vote requires a minimum participation threshold of 1 million ZEC.
Voting power is determined by spendable shielded ZEC held in the Ironwood pool at the snapshot, expected on Aug. 24 at 19:00 UTC, around mainnet block height 3,459,350. Voting runs from Aug. 25 through Sep. 14 at 19:00 UTC and is conducted privately via supported wallets. Only aggregated results will be released, with individual ballots kept confidential.
