Wanchain's bridge infrastructure linking Cardano was reportedly exploited, with about 515 million $NIGHT removed from the bridge treasury. The haul was valued at roughly $13 million prior to the attack.
Early findings suggest the issue may stem from a weakness in the TreasuryCheck validator. Analysts said non-injective signed-message encoding could have enabled a signature-reuse attack.
Wanchain acknowledged an incident impacting its Cardano–BNB Chain bridge and said the bridge has been taken offline as the team investigates and prepares a fuller update.
Following the news, NIGHT—the native token of Cardano-incubated Midnight—slid more than 30% to a record low around $0.016.
