US spot Bitcoin ETFs recorded ~$685M of net inflows on Aug 20, the largest since May 1, extending a four-day streak to ~$1.61B and lifting August MTD inflows above $2B. BlackRock's IBIT dominated with ~$503M, signaling concentrated institutional demand. Because creations require spot BTC purchases, sustained inflows can tighten available supply and reinforce risk-on positioning across crypto.

US spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds logged more than $600 million of net inflows in a single session on Aug. 20, the strongest one-day tally since May 1. The surge extended a four-day run of positive flows totaling about $1.61 billion and lifted August month-to-date inflows beyond $2 billion.
BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust (IBIT) dominated the day's activity, drawing roughly $503 million—about 83% of the total. Fidelity's Wise Origin Bitcoin Fund (FBTC) followed with around $65 million, while Bitwise Bitcoin ETF (BITB) added about $26 million. ARK 21Shares Bitcoin ETF (ARKB) posted a modest gain, while VanEck Bitcoin Trust (HODL) recorded slight outflows.
Since US spot Bitcoin ETFs debuted on Jan. 11, 2024, cumulative net inflows have reached approximately $53.4 billion. Combined assets under management across the 12 approved funds stand near $90.2 billion. Bitcoin was trading around $75,500 during the latest buying wave.
ETF flows can influence price through the creation and redemption process: sustained inflows require issuers to buy Bitcoin in the spot market, which can support prices and, in turn, attract additional momentum-driven demand.
