U.S. SEC Unveils Proposed "Regulation Crypto Assets" With Registration Exemptions

AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
The SEC's proposed Regulation Crypto Assets signals potential regulatory clarification for U.S. crypto fundraising, including registration exemptions for smaller offerings, a conditional safe harbor after key management roles end, and partial preemption of state registration requirements. If advanced, the framework could reduce compliance friction and improve issuance pathways, supporting broader market risk appetite. A 60-day comment period introduces near-term policy uncertainty and headline sensitivity.

ChainCatcher reports that a Fox Business crypto journalist wrote on X that the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has formally introduced a proposed rule, dubbed Regulation Crypto Assets, aimed at creating a new framework for cryptocurrency fundraising in the United States. Under the proposal, certain offerings could be conducted without SEC registration if total fundraising stays within specified thresholds: no more than $5 million in cumulative offerings over four years, or up to $75 million in a single year. The SEC also proposes a conditional safe harbor for crypto assets once key management roles have ended, and would exempt eligible offerings from certain state-level securities registration requirements. The proposal has entered a 60-day public comment period.
