THORChain Rolls Out v3.20, Enabling Native XMR and ZEC Cross-Chain Swaps
AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
THORChain v3.20 adds native cross-chain swaps for Monero (XMR) and Zcash (ZEC), enabling direct swaps into BTC, ETH and stablecoins without wrapped tokens or centralized custody. This meaningfully improves liquidity access and on-chain market connectivity for privacy coins, especially as XMR faces ongoing CEX delistings. Added Protocol-Owned Liquidity and a Stable Reserve may improve routing efficiency and fee dynamics across supported assets.

THORChain has released version 3.20, expanding onchain swap options between privacy-focused tokens and major crypto assets. CoinDesk reported that the update adds native support for Monero (XMR) and Zcash (ZEC), allowing users to swap directly into Bitcoin, Ethereum and stablecoins without relying on wrapped tokens or custody through centralized platforms.
Until now, XMR and ZEC holders looking to move into broader crypto markets often had to use centralized exchanges, custodial services or additional conversion steps. With v3.20, THORChain says XMR and ZEC can be swapped cross-chain natively through the protocol, removing the need to open exchange accounts or convert into an intermediary asset before accessing BTC, ETH or stablecoin liquidity. The change is positioned as a streamlined route for users focused on self-custody.
THORChain also pointed to tighter access for Monero on centralized venues in recent years, with more delistings and restrictions narrowing mainstream off-ramps. The integration is presented as an alternative path for XMR users to exchange using native assets while keeping self-custody, without first depositing funds on an exchange. Adding Zcash similarly extends THORChain's native cross-chain swapping model into the privacy coin segment, where decentralized access has generally been limited.
Beyond privacy coins, v3.20 introduces Protocol-Owned Liquidity (POL) and a new Stable Reserve. THORChain said the Stable Reserve enables stablecoin-to-stablecoin swaps without liquidity fees, while POL provides a mechanism for the protocol to deploy its own capital across the network. The update also restores support for Solana, Base and BNB.
THORChain already supports cross-chain swaps of native assets such as Bitcoin and Ethereum. With XMR and ZEC added, the protocol's native cross-chain approach now reaches further into the privacy coin market.
