Thailand SEC moves ahead with draft rules for spot Bitcoin and Ether ETFs

AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
Thailand's SEC has moved from principles to draft rules for spot Bitcoin and Ether ETFs, launching public consultations through Sep 20. The proposal limits initial eligibility to BTC and ETH, requires at least 80% of net assets held in the underlying crypto, mandates passive single-asset tracking, and restricts trading to stock exchanges. If implemented, it would broaden regulated access and could tighten local market structure and liquidity channels.

Thailand's Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has moved closer to allowing spot Bitcoin and Ether exchange-traded funds, launching two public consultations and shifting its crypto ETF framework from high-level principles to draft regulations. Under the proposals, only bitcoin:native and ethereum:native would initially qualify. Each ETF would be limited to tracking a single cryptoasset and would be listed exclusively on stock exchanges. The draft rules require funds to invest at least 80% of net assets in the underlying cryptocurrency and to operate using passive strategies. The consultation period runs through September 20.
