Tether reported net operating profit of $1.5 billion in the second quarter, driven mainly by interest income from its U.S. Treasury holdings and repurchase agreements, according to ChainCatcher. As of June 30, Tether's reserve buffer totaled $41.1 billion, with assets exceeding liabilities by the same amount. USDT circulating supply rose by $446 million to $184.6 billion, giving it more than 60% of the global stablecoin market. DeFiLlama data puts the global stablecoin market at roughly $307 billion. Tether also remains among the largest holders of U.S. Treasury securities. Separately, asset manager BlackRock has introduced two tokenized money market products aimed at stablecoin issuers, targeting reserve compliance needs under the U.S. GENIUS Act. One fund tokenizes shares of BlackRock's existing Treasury liquidity strategy on Ethereum. The other is an institutional-grade money market instrument designed for multichain support and automatic reinvestment of yields.
