TAC Halts Chain After Cosmos EVM Precompile Exploit; 29.86B TAC Tokens Moved

AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
TAC halted the chain after an exploit in the shared Cosmos EVM precompile layer enabled a large TAC token transfer from a single account, prompting emergency risk containment. The issue appears systemic to the Cosmos EVM module, raising near-term operational and security concerns for TAC and potentially other chains using the same stack. While TAC says no minting occurred and other assets were unaffected, forced downtime and balance corrections elevate counterparty and liquidity risk.

TAC, an L1 blockchain, said it has paused the network after an attacker exploited a vulnerability in the Cosmos EVM precompile layer to move funds from a single account. In a post dated Aug. 24 (UTC+8), TAC said the exploit occurred on Aug. 22 and prompted the team to halt operations at block height 24,671,475 to prevent further attacks. TAC stressed the issue is not tied to its custom code, but to the shared Cosmos EVM module. The project noted that other chains using the same module have also seen similar attacks over the past day. The team said the incident involved a token transfer rather than minting, leaving the total supply unchanged. Roughly 29.86 billion TAC were transferred from one account to another, and the impact was limited to TAC tokens, with all other on-chain assets unaffected. TAC said it is completing a technical postmortem and restart plan expected to be released tomorrow, including adjustments to abnormal TAC balances caused by the attack and required fixes at the Cosmos level. The team is working with SEAL 911 and relevant exchanges to trace the moved funds. (Source: Foresight News)
