Strategy deploys $950 million in STRC buybacks, aiming to lift the preferred stock back toward its $100 par value

AI مارکیٹ کا خلاصہ
Strategy's $950m STRC buyback program is aimed at lifting its perpetual preferred stock back toward the $100 par level to reopen a key channel for Bitcoin-linked financing. Funding came largely from MSTR equity issuance and some Bitcoin sales, highlighting capital structure recycling to sustain BTC accumulation capacity. Near-term, this supports BTC narrative demand, but durability is uncertain if buybacks slow and STRC drifts below par.

ChainCatcher reports that Strategy has stepped up buybacks of its perpetual preferred stock, STRC, seeking to drive the price back toward its $100 par value and revive its ability to finance Bitcoin purchases. From July 20 to September 13, the company repurchased 9.96 million STRC shares for about $950 million, representing roughly 18% of trading volume over the period. About $765 million of the funding is linked to sales of MSTR common stock, while another $161 million came from Bitcoin disposals. STRC previously slid to around $70 but has recently rebounded to as high as $99. Analysts say Strategy can only meaningfully reissue STRC and use the proceeds to buy Bitcoin once the price nears or exceeds the $100 par value. It remains unclear whether STRC can hold near par once Strategy scales back or stops the buybacks.
